The Swatch Rocket Air 3000 is taking off

April 13, 2018

Swatch Rocket Air is looking to go next level this year and leap into the future! On the 27th and 28th of April 3000 (2018) Swatch Rocket Air 3000 will take place in the Thun. The world’s best slopestyle mountain bikers will be heading to Switzerland for the first FMB Gold Event of the season! There will be two FMB Wildcards for Crankworx Innsbruck up for grabs at the event in Thun, so riders will be on the hunt for their ticket to the next Crankworx FMBA Slopestyle World Championship Event. The wildcards will be awarded to the best-ranked riders at Swatch Rocket Air, who don’t qualify for Innsbruck via the World Ranking after the cut-off date on May 7. We will announce the wildcard winners after the cut-off date has been reached.

“The riders will take off from a rocket launcher,” reveals course builder Ramon Hunziker, “We’re including a “Mad Max Mobile” style theme with at least a hundred other props.” The big challenge for the builders of Swatch Rocket Air 3000 is no longer the construction of the course itself: “Thanks to the feedback from the athletes, we know which elements the riders like.” The challenge is to combine the course with the invention of a world in the year 3000. “Meanwhile, a team of creative minds are busy shaping this future world,” says Jérôme Hunziker. This year, for the first time, a scenographer was consulted. “His task is to implement the theme with the existing material,” explains Hunziker. “It is important for us to reuse the decorative material after each event to avoid as much waste as possible.”
