Matt Jones flies to victory in Solothurn

May 25, 2016

Bike Days 2016 was blessed with perfect weather, a huge crowd and great slopestyle action this weekend! In near perfect weather conditions it was Matt Jones from Great Britain, who left the field of FMB athletes behind him to secure his first FMB win of the season. The 21-year-old sent a 720-no-hander for the first time ever and was stoked. “It was the first time I did this trick and as far as I know the first time ever anyone has attempted it at a contest”, said Matt Jones, commenting on his winning run.

Jones showed two very consitent runs scoring 91.3 and 94.7 in each of them. Nicholi Rogatkin (USA) came close to his second Swiss title of the year , however just came up a little short scoring 94.0. This was enough to secure second place ahead of Pavel Alekhin from Russia (82.3).

For the first time this year Bike Days also hosted a Swiss qualification round. Chris Raeber was the successful rider. Raeber scored 78.0 ahead of Lukas Huppert (75.3) and both qualified for the pro qualification round. So congrats to both Swiss nationals for making the step.
