Despite postponement and difficult conditions due to gusty winds in Montpellier the 12 riders, who made it to this year’s finals put up a huge show. FISE Montpellier split the finals this year adding a “Super Final”, which gives the top six riders one more chance to improve their score. Frenchman Yannick Granieri was on fire in front of his home crowd. “Mr. Consistent” sent two runs with +90 scores (90.33 & 93.00) and looked like he would lead the field into the “Super Finals”.

However under the pressure of not even making it into the last six, Thomas Genon managed to overcome the gusts and jump from 7th to 1st with an unbelievable second run of the day. His 95.33 score put him in first place leading into the last run of the contest. The six riders Daryl Brown, Szymon Godziek, Tomas Lemoine, Ryan Nyquist, Yannick Granieri and Thomas Genon had one last opportunity to drop into the French course on the bank of Lez river.

After the attempts of Brown, Godziek and Lemoine did not bring any change to the leader board, it was BMX star Ryan Nyquist, who amped up the pressure. The 37 year old American showed his MTB skills and secured second place thanks to a 94.00 score. After Yannick Granieri unluckily fell on his run, the podium was set and Thomas Genon could celebrate his first win of the 2016 FMB World Tour.
