For the seventh time, Darren Berrecloth invited the the top riders to his home turf event on Victoria Island, BC. The Bearclaw Inviational is the final Gold event on the FMB World Tour 2013 calendar but it is also the perfect opportunity for the riders to compete in a relaxed and chilled atmosphere after the big Diamond event Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx Whistler two weeks ago.
Riding in strong after his victory at Red Bull Joyride, defending Champion Brandon Semenuk, took his second consecutive win at this years Bearclaw Invitational thanks to his usual repertuar of technical and opposite tricks. So far, only a hand full of riders have come up with a strategy to beat his runs. Two of which, Martin Soderstrom and Brett Rheeder were not present and therefore did not compete.
Sam Pilgrim has been on the podium at almost every major FMB World Tour event this season. He took the lead of the overall ranking after Red Bull Joyride and has now extended his lead ahead of his closet rival Thomas Genon who came in fourth at the Bearclaw Invitational. Sam has got those back flips from flat drops super dialed.
Yannick Granieri took his best result of the season last weekend at Bearclaw Invitational. His third place result was exactly the boost he was looking for to move him up into the top five of the FMB World Tour overall ranking. A solid finish for the Red Bull athlete from France.
Bearclaw Invitational may have been the final Gold event of the season, but everyone is now eagerly awaiting the season finale on October 13th, when Red Bull Rampage return's for its consecutive time as an official Diamond event and the FMB World Tour's grand finale. In Utah's desert, where athletes will shred some of the gnarliest big mountain lines known to man, a FMB World Tour 2013 Champion will be crowned. Stay tuned for more information.
