In the heart of downtown Quebec, many came out to watch a spectacle of urban riding during the FMB World Tour Gold event, CITY8. This was the second edition of this FMB contest during the Velirium festival after its debut in 2013. As commentator, Brayden Barrett-Hay said, “the idea of riding in an urban setting really amps up the riders. It’s also a great way to expose the sport to people who may have never even heard of slopestyle.”
Here - renowned for his 'street' style skills, Canadian rider Matt MacDuff throws down a backflip for the crowd. CITY8 was a technical course featuring a drop-in, dirt jumps and a whale-tail. Despite landing in 3rd in 2013, the CITY8 course designer, Cam Zink ended up towards the end of the field this year after two unfortunate runs.
After his huge success at the first round of the FMB Diamond Series, Anthony Messere landed in 4th at CITY8.
Greg Watts fought hard in Quebec and won a wildcard to the next FMB Diamond Series stop, Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx Whistler.
After his first run Brett Rheeder scored a 95.7 leading the pack into finals.
No victory lap for Brett Rheeder. One run was enough for this amazing Canadian athlete to seal the win.
Nicholi Rogatkin is having a very successful year – new to the FMB circuit, this Specialized rider is stacking up the points. Missing on the podium, Martin Soderstrom took 3rd place in Quebec – sustaining a foot injury during his second run, he will be missing from the line up at upcoming contests.
